A delegation of leaders from the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu today paid a courtesy visit to the Buganda Kingdom headquarters in Mengo for high-level discussions focused on improving governance and enhancing service delivery for their communities.
The delegation was led by the Deputy Prime Minister of Rwenzururu, Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale, who represented Prime Minister Joseph Kule Muranga, currently on leave. The visit served as a platform for both cultural institutions to exchange insights on leadership, administration, and strategies for better serving their people.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Katikkiro of Buganda, the Speaker of the Buganda Kingdom Parliament, Hon. Patrick Luwaga Mugumbule, emphasized the importance of unity among Uganda’s traditional institutions. He noted that cultural leadership plays a crucial role in complementing government efforts in areas such as education, social development, and community empowerment.
The engagement marks a significant step in fostering collaboration between the two kingdoms, reinforcing the role of traditional institutions in addressing modern governance challenges while preserving cultural heritage. Discussions also touched on potential areas of mutual cooperation, including cultural preservation, education initiatives, and socio-economic development.
Both delegations expressed optimism about future engagements that will further solidify the bonds between Buganda and Rwenzururu, ensuring that their respective communities benefit from shared experiences and collaborative efforts.
