Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has WITHDRAWN PLU support for Speaker Anita Among ahead of the 12th Parliament leadership race  tearing up an earlier endorsement that many believed had already sealed the deal.

The new directive from the Patriotic League of Uganda orders all PLU-leaning MPs-elect to instead back candidates presented by President Yoweri Museveni.

The battle for Speaker is no longer settled.
The center of power has shifted.
And Anita Among may now be entering the toughest political fight of her career.

For weeks, the endorsement from Gen. Muhoozi was seen as a major show of strength for Among and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa. But the sudden withdrawal signals intense behind-the-scenes calculations within Uganda’s ruling establishment.
Political insiders are already asking who forced the U-turn and who is the new preferred candidate.

“In the PLU, we follow the command, instructions and guidance of our Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba at all times.” David Kabanda the PLU General Secretary told the media at Naguru office.
Uganda’s next Speaker race has officially become a political battlefield.
